That might sound small. In a world of “10K MRR in 30 days” threads and Series A announcements, 100 customers in 5 months is not a headline. But I want to tell you what those 100 people actually represent, because I think the story is more interesting than the number.

I build Respira, a tool that lets AI assistants edit WordPress websites safely. Think of it this way: instead of an AI generating code and hoping it doesn’t break your site, Respira gives the AI structured access to your page builder’s native format. It can change a headline, rearrange a layout, update a product listing, and scan for accessibility issues, all without ever touching your live site until you approve the changes.

I build it alone, with Claude Code as my development partner, from Brașov, Romania. No team. No investors. No advisor board. Just me, late nights after the kids fall asleep, and an AI that writes better PHP than I do.

what 100 actually means

Some of those 100 people bought a €19/year starter license. Some bought €199 agency plans. A few stacked multiple licenses. One person asked about a 500-site plan before I even had a tier for it.

They did this when the product had rough edges. When there was a bug that wrote changes to the wrong site. When certain page layouts crashed the system. When the interface for approving changes was confusing.

3 asked for refunds. I gave every one, no questions, within hours. And then I published the bugs they found, named the fixes after their feedback, and shipped better versions because of what they told me.

One refund became my best release. A customer named Frank emailed saying the product broke his Elementor site. He was right - three specific bugs I hadn’t caught. I fixed all three, cut the amount of data the AI needed per edit by 70%, and built a smarter system for reusing work instead of starting fresh every time. Three features from one honest email.

That’s not a failure story. That’s how software should grow.

the month everything leveled up

March was the biggest month in the product’s life. Not in revenue, in depth.

I shipped 66 new capabilities in one release. I built a dedicated intelligence layer for one specific page builder that required understanding its entire data structure, its CSS framework integration, and its concurrent editing patterns (Bricks). I launched a marketplace of 26 AI workflows that auto-sync from GitHub daily and are free for every user.

The numbers: 172 tools total, up from 106 at the start of the month. Support for 11 different WordPress page builders. Almost a million lines of code pushed through the system by real users on 448 websites.

But the thing I’m most proud of isn’t a feature. It’s the safety architecture.

Every edit the AI makes happens on a duplicate of your page. Never on the live version (unless you want that - there is a setting you can turn on). You review the changes, compare before and after, and approve or discard. If someone edits the page in WordPress while the AI is working, the system detects the conflict and fails cleanly instead of silently overwriting their work.

In a world where AI tools are racing to be faster and more autonomous, I chose to make mine slower and more careful. That turned out to be the right bet. The people who trust AI with their production websites = the ones running businesses on WordPress, serving real customers = they don’t want speed. They want safety.

why the pricing is weird

New pricing went live this week. Three subscription tiers. And a Founder plan.

The prices are €9, not €8.99. €71, not €69.

This is deliberate. I’ve been calling it “anti-marketing pricing.” Round numbers that don’t pretend to be cheaper than they are. No countdown timers, no “only 3 seats left” urgency, no annual-only tricks to inflate LTV metrics.

Every feature is available on every plan. There are no locked capabilities. If you’re on the smallest plan at €9/month, you get the same 172 tools as someone paying €309/year. The tiers differ by how many websites you manage. Nothing else.

I thought about this for a long time. There’s a concept from Adlerian psychology called Gemeinschaftsgefühl. It translates roughly to “community feeling through contribution.” The idea is that belonging comes from what you give, not what you consume.

That became the design principle for everything.

The Skills Marketplace - 26 AI workflows for audits, migrations, accessibility fixes, SEO optimization - is free for every user. Open-source on GitHub. Community-built. You use a skill, you improve it, you share your own. The value compounds because everyone adds to it.

The Founder plan isn’t a premium tier with exclusive features. It’s five seats worldwide, €5,001 each, with quarterly calls where those five people shape what gets built next. It’s not about access. It’s about influence and contribution.

I don’t know if this pricing philosophy will work at scale. Most SaaS advice says to gate features, create urgency, and optimize for annual prepayment. I’m doing none of that. But the 100 people who already paid seem to appreciate it. And I’d rather build something that 1,000 people genuinely value than something that 10,000 people tolerate because they’re locked in.

building alone, in public

People ask me how I build this alone. The honest answer: I don’t, really.

Claude Code writes the PHP and TypeScript. I make the architectural decisions, design the user experience, write the copy, talk to customers, and decide what to build next. The AI is my engineering team. I’m the product person, the designer, and the founder.

Understanding what people need, how they think about value, where the friction is. The AI handles the part I was never great at (writing thousands of lines of production code). I handle the part AI is still bad at (knowing what to build and why).

I share everything publicly. The telemetry is live on the homepage - real numbers, not cherry-picked metrics. The release notes explain not just what shipped but why and what was broken before. When users find bugs, I publish the bugs and the fixes together.

This transparency costs something. A competitor can read my entire playbook. A skeptic can see my rough edges. But it earns something too: the 100 people who paid did so with full information. They knew exactly what they were buying, including the parts that weren’t finished yet.

I think that’s worth more than any growth hack.

what’s next

A free version of the plugin for WordPress.org. A 12th page builder. A dashboard redesign that I’ve been working on this week (the current one looks like it was built at 2am, because it was) - oh, this was was done before finishing the article :).

And yet.

Someone will connect the latest flagship Claude Code model on thinking-hard mode to their WordPress site through 103 MCP tools, type “make my homepage better”, and then blame the AI when the result is generic.

That’s not a tools problem. That’s a GiGo problem.

Garbage In, Garbage Out

GiGo was coined in 1957. It predates the internet, personal computers, and your page builder. And it’s more relevant now than ever, because the tools got so good that the bottleneck quietly shifted to the other side of the keyboard.

When the tool was a hammer, you didn’t blame it for a crooked nail. But when the tool talks back in perfect paragraphs and sounds more confident than your project manager, it’s easy to forget that it’s still waiting for you to aim.

What GiGo looks like in practice

Garbage in:

“make my services page look better”

The AI hears: change things. Which things? Better how? More modern? More minimal? More like a competitor you haven’t mentioned? It doesn’t know your brand, your audience, or what “better” means to you. So it guesses. And guesses are generic by definition.

Gold in:

“Rewrite the hero section on my services page. Keep the h1 but rewrite the subtitle to focus on client outcomes, not features. Same Divi section structure. Match the tone of the About page. Don’t touch anything below the fold.”

Same AI. Same tools. Same page. Wildly different output. The difference is the instruction, not the intelligence.

The three things you’re skipping

Context. The AI doesn’t know your business. It doesn’t know your services page gets 40% of its traffic from Google Ads and visitors bounce at the hero. If you don’t say it, it doesn’t exist.

Constraints. AI with no boundaries produces average work because average is the center of its training data. “Build me a landing page” is a prayer. “Single section, one headline, one paragraph, one CTA, black on white, under 50 words” is creative direction.

References. “Make it modern” means nothing. “Match the layout of stripe.com/payments with our color palette in a Bricks section” means everything. AI is great at pattern matching. Give it a pattern.

The 5-second test

Before you hit enter, ask yourself: could three different people read this prompt and imagine three completely different results?

If yes, it’s garbage. Not because it’s stupid. Because it’s ambiguous. And ambiguity is the raw material of mediocre output.

The format that works

What: specific action on specific element
Where: which page, which section, which builder
Why: the goal you’re solving for
How: tone, style reference, constraints
Don’t touch: what stays the same

Example:

Rewrite the pricing section on /services. Bricks section, three columns. Current copy lists features but sales calls show clients care about time saved. Rewrite each column to lead with the outcome. Keep layout, buttons, and pricing numbers. Leave the FAQ below it alone.

That prompt takes 30 seconds longer to write and saves you three rounds of “no, not like that.”

The oldest law in computing

WordPress is powerful. AI models are powerful. Respira connects them with 103 tools across 11 builders and a safety net that captures every edit. But none of that fixes “make it better.”

You’re the creative director. The AI is waiting for direction.

There’s an old parable about two builders working on opposite sides of the same mountain. Neither can see the other. Both are digging toward the center. One morning, they break through and realize they’ve been building the same passage from different directions.

Today felt like that.

I.

WordPress powers roughly 42.5% of the web. For twenty years, most of those sites have been managed the same way: you open the dashboard, click through menus, edit fields, and press publish.

The tools changed. The interaction model didn’t.

Gutenberg replaced the classic editor. Page builders like Elementor and Divi added drag and drop. But the basic flow stayed the same: human opens interface, human makes changes, human saves.

Today, that started to change.

Two different teams shipped two different products that break the model in the same direction: you talk to your site, and it changes.

II.

The first launch came from Automattic.

WordPress.com flipped the switch on write-capable MCP tools for paid sites, which means AI agents like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor can now create and edit content through conversation. You can ask for a draft, a new page, taxonomy changes, comment management, or media metadata updates, and the agent handles the work after asking for approval.

There are nineteen new write tools in total. The system also reads the site’s design language, colors, fonts, spacing, patterns, so the result looks like it belongs there.

It is a clean implementation, and for WordPress.com users it meaningfully reduces the distance between intention and publishing.

III.

The second launch was mine.

I shipped Respira for WordPress 5.0 Haven on the same day.

I build Respira, so this is not a neutral review. But the contrast matters, because these two products solve different parts of the WordPress world.

WordPress.com starts from a controlled platform. Respira starts from the messier, more interesting side of WordPress: self-hosted sites, mixed hosting setups, custom themes, and page builders with wildly different internal formats.

The difference is easier to show than explain, so let me start with a story.

IV.

A few weeks ago, a user sent me a message after approving a page edit through Respira.

The page was in their header menu. When they approved the duplicate, the original page went private. The menu link broke. Visitors clicked the header and landed on a 404. That is the kind of bug that makes people uninstall software. Not because it is especially complex, but because it violates a promise. The workflow that is supposed to keep your site safe becomes the thing that breaks it.

I fixed the immediate issue. Merge mode now writes the duplicate content back into the original post, preserving its ID, URL, and every reference pointing to it.

But that fix exposed the bigger problem.

Using Respira myself, I noticed I had started skipping the duplicate workflow when I wanted speed. I would tell Claude to edit the live page directly, because it was faster and usually good enough.

And when I did that, there was no real way back.

WordPress revisions store the title, content, and excerpt. But builder data, the Elementor layout, the Divi modules, the Bricks elements that define how the page actually works, often lives outside what revisions capture.

So I built the undo button.

V.

Every WordPress edit done through Respira for WordPress now creates a full-fidelity snapshot automatically.

Not just the post content. The builder payload, metadata, custom fields, and the pieces WordPress revisions usually miss. The snapshot is compressed, hashed for fast comparison, and stored in a dedicated table.

There’s a new Changes page in the admin dashboard. Every post with Respira activity gets a timeline: pending duplicates at the top, full version history below. You can preview diffs between any two states and restore with one click. The restore itself creates a safety snapshot first, so even undoing an undo is possible.

Pinned versions survive all cleanup. Star a version to keep it forever. The state right before a redesign, the last version a client approved, whatever matters to you.

And every write operation through MCP or WebMCP now auto-snapshots before mutating. The AI can edit freely. The safety net catches everything.

That’s Respira 5.0 Haven. The name felt right. A haven is a safe place. That’s what the undo button provides.

VI.

So yes, these are two launches in the same category. Both let AI agents write to WordPress.

But they come from opposite constraints.

WordPress.com starts from the platform side. They control the hosting, the editor, the account system, and the theme layer. They can offer a toggle because they own the full stack. Their design-aware writing works cleanly because the design system is already theirs. Their write tools fit naturally because Gutenberg is the native editor.

Respira starts from the other side: self-hosted WordPress.

That means different hosts, different themes, different plugins, and eleven different builders, each with its own content format and internal logic. Some store layout as JSON. Some use shortcode trees. Some hide critical structure in meta fields. There is no single design system to read and no universal content format to trust.

Teaching an AI agent to work safely across that terrain has been my obsession for the last four months.

VII.

The difference becomes obvious the moment you try editing a builder site through the REST API.

With Gutenberg, you usually get structured blocks back. You can read them, modify them, and write them back in a fairly direct way.

With page builders, the page often looks editable until you realize the real layout data lives somewhere else.

Elementor may keep the real structure in post meta. Divi relies on shortcode hierarchies. Other builders have their own storage models and schemas. The page you see in the editor is not always the page the API gives you.

That is the problem Respira solves.

Not “write some text into WordPress.”
Write natively into the builder the site already depends on.

VIII.

I could keep describing the technical problem. Or I could show you what it looks like when it's solved.

After I finished the release, I wanted to test that claim properly.

So I sat down with Chrome 146+, the Claude browser extension, and a WordPress site running Divi 5. I gave Claude one prompt: create a stunning Divi5 landing page that shows what Respira can do, explain how it was built, and document the tech stack behind it.

One prompt. One conversation. No manual code. No dragging modules around in the visual builder. No copying layouts from somewhere else.

Claude read the site context through Respira’s MCP tools. It understood the Divi 5 format through Respira. It designed a multi-section page with a hero, capability sections, a tech stack explanation, a build timeline, micro interactions + animations, and calls to action. Then it wrote the page and published it live through the builder’s own structure.

The result is a native Divi 5 page, not pasted HTML pretending to be one.

The result is at mihai.love/respira.

The page documents exactly how it was made, including the prompt that created it. This is a native Divi 5 page. Not Gutenberg blocks dropped into a Divi site. Not HTML injected into the post body. Actual Divi 5 sections, rows, columns, and modules, placed through the builder's own content format. The kind of page that would take a designer a full day to build manually.

That is what builder-specific intelligence looks like in practice. The AI is not just filling a text field. It is speaking the builder’s language.

IX.

There’s a question underneath both of today’s launches that I think about a lot: what happens when the AI gets it wrong?

For Respira, I needed a different safety model.

When an AI agent edits a live Elementor or Divi landing page, “it starts as a draft” does not really apply. The thing being changed is often already live. And asking permission is only the first layer of safety. You also need to see what changed, compare it to what came before, and restore the full state in one click, including the builder data WordPress revisions do not preserve.

That is the gap Haven fills.

This is not a criticism of WordPress.com’s approach. It is a difference in terrain. Hosted Gutenberg sites and self-hosted builder-heavy sites need different kinds of safety. The safety infrastructure has to match the terrain.

X.

I did not plan to launch Haven on the same day as WordPress.com.

The work was already underway because of that broken-menu bug and the product question behind it: if Respira already captures full-fidelity snapshots, and WordPress already has native revisions, why can’t users actually see and use that history properly?

So I built the missing layer: merge mode that preserves identity, a Changes page that exposes the timeline, and automatic snapshots around every write action.

Then WordPress.com shipped their launch, and I pushed mine too.

I think the overlap says something real about where WordPress is headed. The infrastructure is converging. Core AI work is moving. MCP is no longer a side conversation. The question is no longer whether WordPress will be editable through agents. It already is.

The infrastructure is converging. WordPress 7.0 ships April 9 with a “Try AI” callout on the about page. The WordPress/ai repo on GitHub has commits from hours ago. The Abilities API is maturing in core. The MCP Adapter is being actively discussed as a standalone plugin or as part of the AI experiments plugin.

I commented on PR #152 this week with technical notes from running 100+ WordPress Abilities in production. I’ve been talking with other plugin developers about how to register abilities well. I’m watching the core-ai team build the foundation in real time, and I’m trying to make sure page builder sites can be part of it.

XI.

So where does this leave us?

If your site is on WordPress.com and you use Gutenberg, today is a good day. Toggle on the write tools and start talking to your site. The onboarding is smooth and the design awareness is a smart touch.

If your site is self-hosted and built with Elementor, Divi, Bricks, or the rest of the builder ecosystem, this is also a very good moment. Respira 5.0 Haven gives you 103 tools, builder-aware editing, and a rollback model designed for live site work. Every change is visible. Every restore is reversible.

If you’re a developer or agency managing multiple sites across both worlds, you probably need both. WordPress.com MCP for your hosted clients. Respira for your self-hosted clients. The tools don’t conflict because they serve different sides of the ecosystem.

he asked for his money back under my 30-day guarantee. i gave it to him immediately—no questions, no negotiation, no “let me help you debug this” dance.

but then i did something that changed the trajectory of the product.

i read his email again.

the email that became a roadmap

here’s what M.P. told me (lightly edited):

“Claude token usage is significantly higher than when working locally, which blows through my budget much faster than expected.”

“The approval interface is hard to navigate: Respira creates multiple copies of pages, and I was unable to figure out how to ensure the correct page gets updated.”

three problems. specific. actionable. brutally honest.

and every single one was correct.

the part where i could’ve gotten defensive

there’s a moment when you read feedback like this where your brain offers you a way out:

“well, most users figure it out”
“maybe he didn’t read the docs”
“power users don’t mind a little complexity”

i’ve built software for 24 years. i know this voice. it’s the voice that protects your ego at the expense of your product.

M.P. didn’t owe me debugging time. he didn’t owe me patience. he paid €199 for a tool that would make his work faster, and it was making his work slower.

the product wasn’t good enough. full stop.

instead of excuses

i took his three pain points and turned them into three features.

problem 1: token usage burning through budgets

respira was sending verbose json payloads back and forth with claude. complete. thorough. and expensive.

i rebuilt the mcp response system to be compact by default. discovery + patch flows instead of full payload extraction.

result: 60-70% token reduction on typical wordpress editing workflows.

M.P. was right. it was too expensive.

problem 2: approval interface creating duplicate chaos

every edit created a new duplicate. five duplicates for one page. which one has the latest changes? which one should i approve?

i added working copy consolidation. the system now reuses the latest open working copy instead of creating new duplicates. older versions get archived to history.

result: one clear “approve this” button. no more guessing.

M.P. was right. it was confusing.

problem 3: multi-site setup requiring json surgery

manual json editing. unclear which site was active. switch failures.

i built a dashboard config generator that exports installer commands and ai setup prompts. zero manual json editing. one-time install tokens. client-specific configs.

result: copy command, run in terminal, done.

M.P. was right. it was too complex.

the dedication

i shipped all three fixes as respira 4.2.0 in 9 hours after reading the refund request.

i dedicated the release to M.P., the customer who gave me the feedback i needed to hear.

at the bottom of the release page, there’s a dedication:

“This release is dedicated to M.P., who gave us the specific feedback we needed to make Respira better for everyone. Your three pain points became our three biggest improvements. Thank you for being honest, for asking for your money back, and for saying you’d give us another shot. This one’s for you.”

he said in his email: “I fully intend to come back and try it again in a few months.”

this release is specifically designed to make that return successful.

what refunds actually mean

i’m a solo founder. respira is nights and weekends.

that €199 refund was real money. it hurt.

but here’s what else was real:

260 WordPress sites using the product. 271,236 lines of code shipped through ai assistants. 3,022 pages edited, 284 posts edited. 4,238 ai agents connected across Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex.

one refund doesn't mean the product is broken. it means one person found the exact edges where it breaks.

and if you’re building something real, those edges are gold.

the alan watts angle

there’s an alan watts quote i keep coming back to:

M.P.’s refund request was change. unexpected. uncomfortable. the first one always is.

i could’ve resisted it. gotten defensive. written it off as an edge case.

instead i plunged into it. moved with it. joined the dance.

and the product got better.

building in public actually means listening

“building in public” has become startup performance art. post your revenue. share your struggles. cultivate vulnerability as a brand strategy.

but real building in public means this:

when someone tells you your product isn’t good enough, you believe them.

you don’t spin it. you don’t rationalize it. you don’t wait for three more customers to say the same thing.

you fix it.

M.P. gave me three specific, actionable problems. i shipped three specific, actionable fixes.

that’s the dance.

what’s next

These weren’t on my roadmap. They came from you using this in production and telling me what broke or what was missing.

Validation From Unexpected Places

A Reddit thread about AI agents and WordPress safety mentioned Respira as “the smart safety net that sandboxes ai edits on elementor/divi/gutenberg before they nuke your live pages.”

That caught the attention of danieliser, an WordPress Core Contributor, who’s building similar safety tooling for WordPress. His response:

“Two things that really landed:

1. ‘Duplicate-before-edit workflow’ — stealing this immediately. I’ve used that pattern in other agentic tools but somehow didn’t wire it into this one. Obvious in hindsight.

2. ‘Sandboxing is the product’ — perfect framing. In just a few days I went from fully trusting the AI to building structured, testable tooling the agent operates through instead.”

He’s building with WebMCP (browser-based, admin-side editing). We’re building with remote MCP (cloud-based, duplicate-first). Different trust models, same core insight: psychological safety matters as much as technical safety.

The news, in order

February 4, 2026 — The WordPress Developer Blog published “From Abilities to AI Agents,” introducing the official MCP Adapter. This bridges WordPress’s new Abilities API (shipped in WordPress 6.9) to the Model Context Protocol, the open standard Anthropic created for connecting AI systems to external tools. Any WordPress plugin can now register abilities that AI assistants discover and execute automatically.

February 5, 2026 — WordPress.com launched its Claude Connector, covered by TechCrunch. You can now connect Claude directly to your WordPress.com site through the Connectors directory. Ask about your traffic, query your comments, check plugin status — all through conversation. Read-only access for now, with write capabilities planned.

February 8, 2026 — WordPress 7.0 Beta 1 was confirmed for February 19, with the final release targeted for April 9 at WordCamp Asia. This is the big one. WordPress 7.0 brings real-time collaboration (Google Docs-style), the Abilities API moving deeper into core, MCP Adapter support, and a WP AI Client that gives WordPress a provider-agnostic way to call AI services natively.

Also happening — WooCommerce published MCP integration documentation, exposing store operations (orders, products, customers) as MCP tools through the Abilities system. The WordPress AI Team meets bi-weekly on Slack (#core-ai), actively coordinating the merge of AI building blocks into core ahead of the beta.

This is not incremental. This is WordPress building a standardized AI interface into its foundation.

What each piece actually does

Let me break this down practically, because the terminology gets tangled fast.

The Abilities API is the foundation layer. It lets WordPress core, plugins, and themes register what they can do in a machine-readable format. Think of it as WordPress creating a menu of capabilities that any system — human or AI — can browse and invoke. Introduced in WordPress 6.9, it’s becoming central to how WordPress interacts with the outside world.

The MCP Adapter sits on top of Abilities. It translates those registered capabilities into the Model Context Protocol format, so AI tools like Claude Desktop, Cursor, Claude Code, and VS Code can discover and use them. If your plugin registers an ability, the MCP Adapter makes it available to AI assistants without extra integration work.

The WordPress.com Claude Connector is the consumer-facing implementation. WordPress.com users connect Claude to their sites through a simple OAuth flow. Currently supports querying site data — analytics, content, comments, settings. It’s the “Claude, tell me about my site” experience. Write access is coming.

Third-party MCP servers — several exist on npm and GitHub (InstaWP, Meow Apps AI Engine, and others). They connect AI assistants to the WordPress REST API for managing posts, pages, plugins, media. Standard CRUD operations. Some are quite mature.

Together, this creates a real ecosystem. Not a single tool — a layered infrastructure that developers and AI tools can build on.

The gap that’s still open

Here’s where it gets interesting — and where I need to be honest about my own work, because I built something specifically for this.

All of the solutions above work through the WordPress REST API. The REST API understands WordPress core data structures. Gutenberg blocks, posts, pages, taxonomies, settings — it handles all of that well.

But roughly 40% of WordPress sites don’t use Gutenberg as their primary editor. They use page builders. Divi, Elementor, WPBakery, Bricks, Oxygen, Beaver Builder, and others.

These builders store content in proprietary formats. Divi uses shortcodes with a specific module structure. Elementor stores everything as JSON blobs. Bricks has its own element format. When you ask the REST API to read a Divi page, you get raw shortcode soup. When you try to write to it, you’re likely to break the layout entirely.

This means that right now, if you’re a developer using Cursor or Claude Code and your client’s site runs Divi or Elementor, the official MCP tools can’t help you edit individual page builder modules. They can manage posts and settings, but they can’t safely change a specific button, update a hero section, or modify a pricing table at the component level.

That’s the problem I’ve been working on.

What I built for page builders

Respira for WordPress is a plugin paired with an MCP server — @respira/wordpress-mcp-server on npm — that adds two layers the current ecosystem doesn’t have:

Page builder intelligence. Respira teaches AI how each builder structures its content. Complete module-level awareness for Divi (200+ modules), Elementor (every widget and control), Gutenberg, WPBakery, Oxygen, Bricks, Beaver Builder, Brizy, Visual Composer, and Thrive Architect. When you tell Cursor to “make the hero heading larger,” Respira knows whether that’s a Divi text module, an Elementor heading widget, or a Bricks element — and generates the correct syntax for whichever builder the page uses.

Duplicate-before-edit safety. Every edit happens on a copy. AI never touches your live page directly. You review the changes, approve or reject. If you reject, nothing happened. Your original page is exactly as it was.

The MCP server connects to Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, or anything that supports MCP:

Beyond editing, the same toolset includes SEO analysis, Core Web Vitals checks, and AEO (Agentic Engine Optimization) — tools that help your site surface properly in AI-powered search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude.

How it fits with the official ecosystem

This is important to say clearly: Respira isn’t competing with the official WordPress AI infrastructure. It’s complementary.

The Abilities API and MCP Adapter are the right foundation. They’re being built thoughtfully, with proper permission models and extensibility. I’m working on registering Respira’s page builder tools as WordPress Abilities so they’re discoverable through the official MCP Adapter too. One plugin, visible through both paths.

The Claude Connector gives WordPress.com users a clean entry point to AI-assisted site management. When it gains write access, the page builder understanding layer becomes even more relevant — you’ll need something that knows how to write Divi syntax correctly, not just pass through generic content.

The landscape is forming. The official pieces handle Gutenberg and core WordPress beautifully. Respira handles page builders. Different tools for different architectures, same ecosystem.

What this means for WordPress developers right now

If you haven’t started experimenting with MCP and WordPress, now is genuinely the time. Here’s what you can do today:

For Gutenberg sites — Set up the WordPress MCP Adapter on a local or staging site. Register some abilities. Connect Cursor or Claude Desktop. The WordPress Developer Blog tutorial from February 4 walks through every step.

For WordPress.com sites — Enable the Claude Connector in your account settings. Start querying your site data conversationally. It’s read-only for now, but it’s a preview of where everything is heading.

For page builder sites — Install Respira on a test site, connect @respira/wordpress-mcp-server to your AI assistant, and try editing a Divi or Elementor page through natural language. Free 7-day trial, no credit card required.

First commit: December 6th. Two days later: 75 commits, 31 releases, functional app, live website, payment system, licensing. All of it.

It monitors Vercel deployments from your menu bar. Sounds simple. And honestly? With Claude Code doing the heavy lifting, it kind of was.

Here’s the thing about deploying code: there’s this mental loop that never closes.

You push. Now part of your brain is running a background process. Is it deployed yet? Did it fail? Should I check?

So you open Vercel. Just to glance. And twenty minutes later you’re reviewing analytics, checking domains, wondering why that other project failed last week.

I’m what I call a “gringo vibe coder” — I build with Claude, navigating by feel rather than formal training. 22 years of building online systems, but writing Rust? Configuring Tauri? Code signing and notarization for macOS? That was new territory.

Claude Code handled the Rust. I handled the direction.

Initialize project structure. Implement complete application. GitHub Actions for releases. Code signing. Notarization. Homebrew cask. Fix clipboard write. Improve tray icon contrast. Fix onboarding flow.

Commit after commit. Release after release. Each one is a little closer to done

The moment that tested me: copy logs.

One of the features I wanted most. When a deployment fails, you click one button, and the entire build log lands in your clipboard. Paste it into Claude. Get help. Move on.

For hours, it didn’t work.

The button was there. The click registered. Nothing happened. No error. No feedback. Just... silence.

The fix, when I found it, felt like finding a loose wire. Click. Logs in clipboard. I said “yes” out loud, alone in my office at 11pm.

That’s the thing about building. The wins are small and private. Nobody sees them. But they’re real.

There’s this moment that kept happening.

A client would call. Someone who’d spent fifteen years developing their practice, their approach, their language. They’d finally gotten their old WordPress website to a place that felt right.

Then they’d want to change something small. A button. Some text. Maybe update their bio across three pages. Or just create a brand new landing page for a retreat.

And they’d have three options:

Ask their tech person (me, or someone else)

Try to do it themselves in Divi or Elementor and... maybe break something

Just not do it

Most of them chose option three.

Not because they couldn’t find help. Because the friction was too high. Because by the time they’d explained what they wanted and someone had time to do it, the moment had passed.

Their websites became frozen. Not broken - frozen. Stuck at “good enough” because change felt hard.

And on my side? i wanted to help faster. To take “can you change this button” and turn it into “done” in five minutes instead of finding time, making the edit, testing it, and following up. The work itself was simple. The process around it wasn’t.

These are people whose work is about evolution. About becoming. Their online presence should be able to keep up.

Then I started vibe coding.

That’s what they call it when you use AI assistants like Cursor or Claude Code. You describe what you want in plain English. The AI writes the code. You’re not really a developer anymore - you’re a translator between intention and execution.

It changed how i work. Completely.

I could build things i couldn’t have built before. Faster. With more room to experiment. The AI handled the syntax, the structure, the technical details. i handled the vision.

But there was a gap.

The AI couldn’t talk to WordPress. Not in a way that understood page builders. Not in a way that was safe.

I could tell it “make all the Contact Us buttons green” but it didn’t know how to find those buttons in Divi. Or Elementor. Or any of the ten different ways WordPress stores content depending on what builder you’re using.

And even if it could find them, any change went straight to the live site. No undo. No review. One wrong instruction and you’re looking at a broken homepage.

This wasn’t a tool i could hand to my clients. It was a tool i couldn’t even fully trust myself.

What was actually missing wasn’t the connection between AI and WordPress. The WordPress REST API exists. The technical bridge is there.

What was missing was the safety layer.

The understanding layer.

The thing that says: “i know you want to change this, let me duplicate the page first, make the change on the copy, show you the result, and only publish it if you approve.”

The thing that speaks Divi when you’re using Divi. Speaks Elementor when you’re using Elementor. Understands that these builders store content in completely different ways and that AI needs different instructions for each one.

That’s what i built.

Respira for WordPress is the bridge I needed.

You tell your AI assistant what you want. Respira translates it into the language of your page builder. The edit happens on a duplicate. You review. You approve. Then and only then does it go live.

If you don’t like it, nothing happened. Your original page is exactly as it was.

This sounds obvious. It wasn’t obvious to build.

Page builders are a mess. Divi stores content as shortcodes in the database. Elementor uses JSON. Gutenberg is blocks. Getting AI to understand all of them meant building separate intelligence for each one.

That part took the longest. That’s also the part that makes this actually work.

There’s an official WordPress MCP now. WordPress announced it a few months ago - a standardized way for AI to talk to WordPress through the REST API.

It’s powerful. It’s built for developers who know WordPress internals. It’s the raw connection.

Respira is something else. It’s the translator and the safety net.

Different tools for different people.

Content rewrites - taking an existing article and restructuring it for readability, both human and machine

The editing layer was step one. Making your site findable is step two.

I built this because the gap between “i want to change something” and “it’s changed” was too wide for everyone involved.

In The Courage to Be Disliked, Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga present ideas from Alfred Adler’s psychology. The core message is that you already belong to a larger human community that goes far beyond any single group, and your worth is not set by a small circle or a leaderboard. Communities work better with horizontal relationships rather than vertical ones. Vertical relationships rank people—teacher over student, expert over beginner—and rely on praise and blame to control behavior. Horizontal relationships place people side by side: equal human value, different roles, encouragement instead of judgment, gratitude instead of scoring. When you keep the larger community in mind, it becomes easier to step out of rooms that demand performance for approval and to build rooms where simply showing up as yourself counts as a real contribution.

Traveling to the ELNN Think Tank, where I was invited to expand my comfort zone by actively participating in discussions around youth non-formal education communities, I felt it was about time to prepare by reading “The Courage to be Disliked”, which was long overdue in my library. I managed to listen to the audiobook, half on my way to, 2nd half on the way back. Being tired and my head still buzzing from the connections and community work I was part of with ELNN's non-formal education strategy and initiatives - I was falling asleep with the magical conversation from the book playing in my ears - and somehow my attention highlighted exactly the insights about community, relationships, and belonging from a school of psychology I was unfamiliar with.

Coming back, I wanted to lay out the summary of what I learned so that I remember it and use it in my work, and I used Flow to dictate what I remembered into a new chat from my Respira ChatGPT project and asked it to flesh out the missing details from the book.

I then went through the output and adapted it to what I already know and do so that it better reflects my current experience.

We (community builders, Respira, brands) ship community platforms, community event calendars, bots, onboarding flows, and community rituals. Dashboards glow. Charts climb. And yet many rooms still feel hollow. That hollow comes from confusing activity with contribution.

“The Courage to be Disliked” — a book structured as five nights of dialogue between a philosopher and a skeptical young man. It’s based on Alfred Adler’s psychology, and buried within its pages is perhaps the most radical truth about community I’ve encountered in years:

Belonging is not given. It’s earned through contribution.

But contribution doesn’t mean what you think it means.

In The Courage to Be Disliked, Adler names the trap: performance gets mistaken for presence. Community builders start using posting activity as a proxy for belonging. But that’s not community feeling. That’s anxiety with a newsletter.

“Without judging whether or not people did something, one rejoices in their being there, in their very existence.”

The Performance Trap

Contribution does not equal output.
The baseline contribution is being present: attentive, available, honest. It is about being truer, not louder.

If your community rewards only visible output, you will breed performative behavior: hot takes and busywork. Presence is quieter: listening, showing up consistently, doing the unglamorous coordination that keeps the room safe.

Checkpoint: If nobody would notice you took a week off from posting, but they would notice if you stopped showing up for people, your presence is working.

From Presence to Architecture: Vertical vs. Horizontal

Most online spaces default to vertical: praise and rebuke, statuses, top-10 lists, and the “owner” at the mic. Judgment becomes the glue.

Healthy rooms are horizontal: peers, not performers. Authority exists to serve the circle, not stand above it. Rotate facilitation, make decisions transparent, and empower everyone to contribute. The language shifts from evaluation to encouragement; from “good job” to “thank you”.

Design smells of verticality

• Public praise used as control and private rebuke as culture

• “Top contributors” emails

• Gatekeeping contributions through permission and status

• Gamification and leaderboards

Horizontal moves

• Rotate facilitation and normalize handoffs

• Replace praise with gratitude and specificity: “Your question opened the room”

• Publish clear paths for contributing that do not require permission

Understanding Community Beyond the Immediate Group

Adler expands “community” far beyond your remote team Slack or your local Telegram hub. You are part of a larger human web across time. When you see that fabric, you stop contorting to win a smaller room’s approval. You can say the useful, unpopular thing and survive the silence. If the local circle cannot hold it, another one will.

This is not woo. It is operational sanity. You write kinder local rules when you remember the bigger context.

Three Pillars that Actually Move the Needle

• Self-acceptance. Know your limits and your lane. Change what is changeable, accept what is not. No self-abuse disguised as standards.

• Confidence in others. Not conditional “trust if proven,” but a default posture: comrades, not opponents.

• Contribution. Not martyrdom. A felt sense that you are beneficial here, often by simply showing up as yourself.

These three form a loop: self-acceptance lowers defensiveness → confidence in others rises → contribution becomes natural → self-worth stabilizes → deeper self-acceptance.

From “Audience” to “Community”

Self-attachment asks: How am I seen?
Social interest asks: How can I be useful here?

Same platforms, very different energy. The second group builds resilient rooms without chasing it. They are not performing community; they are living it.

The Courage to Be Normal

Chasing “special” is an avoidance strategy. Ordinary presence (on time, prepared, attentive) builds more trust than flashy stunts. Viral tactics are future-facing escapism. Refuge happens in this moment, with these people, at human speed.

What This Changes mean in the Stack

Onboarding

• Replace “earn your stripes” vibes with a short “how this room works” and three contribution doors: ask, offer, witness

• Prompt the first post for presence, not performance: “What brings you here, and how do you want this space to feel?”

Rituals

• Presence Hour: no agenda, shared focus, cameras optional, silence allowed. People can name needs, make offers, or just be

• Gratitude threads: weekly, short, specific. No scorekeeping

Language

• Ban empty praise. Use thanks + impact: “Your edit made this doc clearer for newcomers.”

• Swap “members” → “peers” (or “co-creators” in workshop contexts, “allies” in advocacy, “stewards” for governance, “companions” for cohort learning). Subtle, but it changes posture.

Governance

• Rotate facilitation monthly. Publish a one-page “How we hold the room”

• Decisions: lightweight proposals with 24 to 48 hours of silent consent

Metrics

Keep your ops metrics, but elevate one question above all:

“Do you feel beneficial here?”

Pulse it monthly. Watch the trend. Everything else is secondary.

The Only Metric That Matters

When people can truthfully say, “I am beneficial to this community,” self-worth stabilizes and contribution compounds. If your room cannot produce that feeling, you have built a prettier attention casino. If it can, you have built a refuge.

Smaller, slower, quieter might underperform the algorithm. It will outperform burnout.

Make the room where it is okay to be here. The rest gets easier.

There were no speeches, no stage. Just a circle. Each person with a voice, a story, a question.

What emerged was raw, honest, and deeply human.

Creation as Freedom

One thread that returned again and again was the link between creation and freedom.

If we cannot create, we do not feel free. Creation is not only about launching projects or starting businesses. It is about shaping experiences that stay with people: a song, a dance, a shared meal, even tears that cleanse.

To create is to choose life.

Another quite important realisation came up to the fire, on the need to create more than we consume.

Lessons from Elsewhere

Stories came from Costa Rica, where small communities survived the pandemic through WhatsApp groups and skill exchanges. Someone used Airtable to map what people could offer and what they needed. It was not about apps. It was about remembering the obvious: our deepest currency is connection.

And if that is true, then technology should only make it easier for humans to find one another, not replace humans.

The Attention Casino

We spoke about social media and the way it has turned into an attention casino. Feeds saturated with AI content, endless noise, shallow dopamine loops. The question is no longer about what we can build; the tools are already there. The question is: what is worth building? What is needed?

What if online spaces could feel as intentional as ceremonies, as nourishing as a fireside jam?

Community and Its Edges

Community is not an audience. It is not a tribe that demands conformity. We also spoke about the colonial implications of the tribe terminology and decided it’s not a word we should use :) .

Community is a web of relationships that allows freedom and difference. It takes shape through lived experience and shared values, but also through anti-values, the lines we refuse to cross.

To belong is not only to say yes together. It is also to say no.

Seeds of Alternatives

We shared models and experiments: sliding-scale access, local-friendly pricing, and rewarding early adopters. We spoke of simple tools like Lu.ma (no business affiliation, just useful), and how an Ericeira Community Calendar could grow bigger with each event posted, helping more people find what others are creating.

Someone offered the vision of Nature-based AI: instead of metrics and graphs, what if we thought in terms of trees, sunlight, rivers? Each person a tree, carrying both gifts and needs. Communities as forests.

The Inner Work

There were also stories of wounds. Of people burned in earlier communities, betrayed or broken, and of the way pain becomes a teacher.
Freedom, we agreed, is not resisting the old, but choosing creation over repetition.

The ember is inside each of us. The work is to tend it, gently, until it becomes fire again.

Closing the Circle

We ended with music, food, laughter, and the presence of children running around. A reminder that community is not built in theory. It is built in breath, in sound, in shared meals, and in the willingness to sit together in honesty.

What would our communities look like if we actually owned them?

It’s a question I return to often, not out of idealism, but because it’s the only question that matters when you’re trying to build something that lasts.

Ownership is the foundation. Without it, you’re just squatting on someone else’s infrastructure, subject to whatever rules they decide to change next week.

And nowhere is this more visible than in how we gather — how we host events, invite others, and hold space together.

Why Community Events matter

If you’ve ever tried to bring people together — in a room, on a call, in a forest — you know how much depends on clarity and follow-through.

For events to succeed, participants need to:

• Discover the offering without friction

• Register in a way that feels smooth and intentional

• Add it to their personal calendar with a single click

I was a math olympiad student.

The highest I placed was 1st in the municipal phase. In 1994 or 1995.
I remember because in September 1994, my father died.

I promised him, on the ICU bed at Carol Davila, that I would win first place at the olympiad for him.
Among many things, he had been a respected mathematician—PhD in probability, university professor, and author.
I remember asking him who M. Malița was, the name listed as co-author on his books.
He explained to me that we were living in times where it was important to list others as co-authors on your books, simply so you could get them published.
I wish I had remembered that and said it at 14 years old, on the stage of the Romanian Academy, where I was receiving—posthumously—my father's second Academy Award, for Mihai Dragomirescu.

I believe my father would vote for Nicușor Dan on May 18.
I definitely will.

We’re in the middle of a presidential election that feels like a referendum on reality itself.

George Simion—riding on waves of nationalism, fear, and carefully packaged outrage—has made it to the final round.

On the other side: Nicușor Dan. Quiet. Imperfect. Often criticized.
But grounded.
Functional.
Less spectacle, more structure.

This isn’t about left or right.
It’s about whether we choose to build something enduring—
or burn it all down in the name of purity, anger, and nostalgia.

Why It Hit on LinkedIn

LinkedIn isn’t where people go for politics.
It’s where people go to hide behind performance.
To say the “right” things, professionally.
To play neutral.
To avoid being too much of anything.

Which means… when someone dares to bring personal clarity into a professional space,
it disrupts the algorithm of self-censorship.

That’s why it hit.

The Real Post Wasn’t the Image

The real post was the stance.

I didn’t say “vote like me.”
I said: I remember what happens when we stay quiet.

And then came the comments.
Some in support. Some to challenge. Some to tone-police.

What fascinated me wasn’t the disagreement.
It was the energy behind it.

There was tension not because I was wrong—
but because I wasn’t afraid to be publicly clear.

We’re Addicted to Balance

But not the kind that holds nations.
The kind that lets us disappear.

“Both sides are flawed” has become a way to stay hidden.
“Let’s stay neutral” has become a tool for inaction.
“Let’s wait and see” now costs more than we think.

I didn’t speak to be right.
I spoke because not speaking felt like betrayal.

I'm building a system for creators in the wisdom economy. These are people who use their embodied knowledge—wisdom—to guide others: teachers, coaches, facilitators, therapists, etc. They help others transform their lives through their experience, insight, and unique gifts. While it’s built for the wisdom economy, this system also applies to creators in other fields—anyone turning their knowledge or craft into meaningful, sustainable work.

Being a creator often feels overwhelming. Budgets for tech tools, strategic support, and execution quickly spiral out of control. A solid setup with platforms like Kajabi and Circle, editing tools, payment processors, and client management systems can easily exceed €1,000 a month.

Today I am suggesting a technique called Inverted Prompting: In inverted prompting, you instruct the AI to ask you the right questions it needs to gather all the necessary information. My father died in my arms when I was 13 years old, 30 years ago, on September 4th, a day I remember better than yesterday. He was 52 years old.

Mihai-Traian Dragomirescu was an exceptional father. And a brilliant mind. A mathematician with 2 awards from the Romanian Academy and multiple published books including two with Mircea Maliță, the mentor of Călin Georgescu, the New Age Romanian candidate for the presidency who made the majority of people see him as their savior. Note to self - create Wikipedia page for my father.

My father was doing dialysis 3 times per week. Ended up with kidney insufficiency after a drug mistreatment prescribed by Romanian doctors. When the German doctors saw what he was prescribed, they were in shock, my father was taking medication in a concentration suitable for a horse, not a human.

On September 4th, 1994, we were out together in the family car, fixing some exterior decorations after the car was painted. He started feeling sick, we went upstairs and he laid down. We ended up calling the ambulance and at the hospital, the same one he was taken to 3 times a week for getting his blood cleared out by artificial kidneys, he was kept for questioning before (even if they had his medical record and everything) taken to intensive care a bit too late. He lost consciousness in the wheelchair in the elevator on the way to intensive care. The nurses gave him a cardiac massage. I gave him a cardiac massage. He was gone, I screamed with all my lungs in the hospital hallway.

Coming back from the hospital alone with my mother I felt like I was entering a new world. A world where my father was just in my heart.

Over the past 30 years, I ended up in unhealthy relationship dynamics, always unconsciously searching for my father in friends, colleagues, managers, and business partners. Looking for someone stronger, wiser, richer who can finally take me under his wing and make life a little bit easier. Somebody that can take care of me when I am down.

I am writing in italics my thoughts on how it impacted me.

Workaholism

Overachieving leaders can foster a culture of chronic overwork in their organizations, emphasizing achievement, intense competitiveness, and extreme drives for material success. While this can yield impressive results in the short term, it often comes at the expense of employee well-being, team cohesion, and long-term sustainability.

My father’s relentless work ethic and extraordinary accomplishments left a mark on me. For much of my life, I believed I had to work tirelessly to prove my worth—to him, to myself, to the world. The problem was, it wasn’t sustainable.

Perfectionism

The pursuit of perfection—rooted in a leader’s unhealed father wound—can permeate an organization, creating an atmosphere where employees feel pressured to perform flawlessly. This constant striving can lead to burnout and stifle innovation, as mistakes are seen as unacceptable rather than learning opportunities.

Growing up under the shadow of my father’s brilliance, I unknowingly chased perfection in everything I did. Failure wasn’t an option, and that mindset became a prison. I missed out on opportunities to experiment, to play, to innovate. The fear of not being enough held me back, even though I always strived to excel. His legacy felt like a weight rather than an inspiration at times.

Fear of Abandonment

A leader’s deep-seated fear of abandonment can translate into micromanagement or over-dependence on specific employees. This dynamic fosters mistrust stifles team growth, and can prevent the organization from evolving organically.

The day my father died, I felt like the ground had been ripped out from beneath me. Since then, I’ve unconsciously searched for him in others—friends, mentors, colleagues—hoping someone could fill the void. This pattern led me into relationships and dynamics where I gave too much, tolerated too much, and waited too long for people to save me. Deep down, I just wanted to feel safe and guided again.

Addiction

When leaders turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms—whether it be overwork, substances, or rigid processes—the culture of the organisation can reflect this imbalance. Such behaviors often ripple through the team, impacting productivity and emotional well-being.

Though I’ve never really battled substance addiction, I’ve leaned heavily on work, achievement, and relationships to cope with my pain. These became my escape hatches, temporary distractions from the unresolved grief and emptiness I carried.

Complacency

A fear of judgment, often rooted in unresolved personal wounds, can result in risk-averse leadership and a stagnant organization. Complacency stifles innovation, keeping the company from adapting to new challenges or opportunities.

There were times I felt stuck, afraid to take risks, or dream too big. Carrying the weight of my father’s legacy made me second-guess whether I could ever match his brilliance. I settled for “good enough” because failure felt like a betrayal of everything he stood for. But staying still only deepened my frustration, as I knew I wasn’t living the life I was meant to.

Impulsive Sexual behavior

Inappropriate behavior at the leadership level can damage an organization’s reputation and create a hostile work environment. When leaders seek validation through impulsive actions, the effects can reverberate across the entire company culture.

While I’ve sought validation in fleeting ways at times, it was never about the act itself—it was about a deeper longing for connection and intimacy. These moments, though brief, reflected my struggle to feel grounded and whole. They were attempts to soothe wounds I didn’t fully understand at the time.

For 30 years, I’ve carried the memory of my father, in my heart. His brilliance, his love, and his loss have shaped my life in ways I’m only beginning to understand fully. The patterns I’ve lived—the workaholism, the search for safety, the fear of failure—all trace back to the little boy who lost his father that day and is still looking for a place to belong.

But today, I choose to honor him differently, not by chasing his shadow, but by building my own light. I can step forward as the man he’d be proud to call his son.

My father was a good man and created security for his family, provided everyday healthy food from the garden and was a gentle and balanced man. He struggled with some emotions though and was very harsh on me and very absent with me. He abused me a couple of times violently when I wasn’t corresponding to the image he had of me or what he wanted to create of me. I took these wounds with me all my life, we were never able to talk about that. He was very good as a grandfather with my children and I could see him engaging with them a lot more than he did with me. He didn’t know any better at the time. He suffered 8 years of Parkinson disease before passing away. I could forgive him on his death bed of all the scenes I carried with me all my life. It was a liberating moment as he received my forgiveness and shook my hand so strong and solid like no-one else in my life. It was as he was giving his strength and compassion back to me.

I’ve seen time and again that those who truly show up for others end up creating lives filled with real connection and impact. Here’s how I do it—and why it matters.

Of course, these practices are an ideal standard—things I strive for when I’m in a solid place, an “I don’t need anything” phase.

Life ebbs and flows, and there are times when I don’t have the energy or bandwidth to show up like this.

But when I do, when I’m in that place where I can give without needing anything back, these are the practices that build real success and connection. See if they work for you too.

1. Responding Like They’re Right in Front of Me

When I see a friend announce something new—a project, an event, or a launch—I don’t just scroll past it like it’s another post.

I treat it like they’re standing in front of me, excitedly sharing this part of their journey. I react, leave a thoughtful comment, or share the post to show them I’m genuinely listening.

That effort shows my friend I’m invested, and it also signals the algorithm to get that post seen by more people. It’s a small action, but it’s powerful.

Every time I engage, I’m adding a little more visibility to their work and sending them a direct message that says, “I see you, and I’m here.”

2. Signing Up Early to Show Support

I’ve noticed that a lot of events get canceled last minute, often because people wait until the final moment to commit. This hesitation can kill momentum, leaving organizers feeling unsupported.

When I decide to go to a friend’s event, I don’t wait—I sign up early. I click “Going,” pay for the ticket, or whatever it takes to show I’m committed.

Then I let my friend know, giving them that boost of confidence to keep pushing forward. If the event is public, I’ll share it with my network, too. I’m not just filling a seat. I’m backing their work and showing I believe in what they’re doing.

And sometimes, that little bit of early support is all it takes to get the event off the ground and into something great.

3. Subscribing to Stay Connected

Social media is great, but I know I don’t actually own my connection with people there. Algorithms dictate who sees my posts, and I often have to pay if I want to reach more than a fraction of my followers.

That’s why, if someone I follow has a newsletter, I subscribe. It’s direct—there’s no algorithm in between, no filter. It means their message reaches me, and I can respond in a way that actually supports their work.

That’s why you’re reading this here in my newsletter.

I value the direct connection we have here, where I can share my thoughts without barriers. And if someone I follow doesn’t have a newsletter yet, I encourage them to start one. 4. Meeting People in Person

Online support has its limits. I make it a point to get out there, meet up in person, attend community gatherings, and connect face-to-face with people I resonate with.

Being there physically adds an energy you can’t replicate through a screen.

Face-to-face connections build trust and deepen relationships.

They strengthen the sense of community, remind me of my role in that community, and bring me closer to the people who are out there putting in the work.

5. Spending Locally

I put my money where my values are. Instead of going to a multinational chain, I choose to buy from local farmers and family-owned businesses whenever I can.

When it comes to learning, I prioritize attending workshops offered by people in my local communities over big corporate courses.

Each dollar I spend locally supports the dreams and efforts of people around me, creating a stronger, more connected community.

So, this is how I show up. Commenting, committing early, subscribing, meeting in person, buying local. These actions create a life filled with connection and meaning. It’s a ripple effect, one that lifts everyone up—including me.

Lately, I’ve been noticing a shift online. The idea of a “personal brand” — once a ticket to freedom and self-expression — feels like it’s losing its spark. It used to mean putting yourself out there authentically, sharing your real skills, and connecting with people who got it. But things changed. Now, it seems like everyone’s chasing quick clicks and fleeting trends. The result? More noise, less meaning.

This isn’t just nostalgia talking. There’s an opportunity here for something better. People are craving content that feels real. They’re looking for depth. And those of us willing to show up authentically have a chance to make a genuine impact.

1. When Personal Brands Were About Connection

In the early days of social media, building a personal brand felt different. People shared what they loved, not because it would go viral, but because it was meaningful to them. Their followers felt that. It was a time when connection came before clicks, and you could tell it was authentic. But as the internet grew, that sense of realness got diluted. With so much focus on views, likes, and algorithms, many creators have become almost indistinguishable from one another.

It’s not about going back to the way things were. It’s about recognizing that when “personal brand” becomes all about metrics, it loses the human touch. And that connection — the reason people went online in the first place — fades.

2. Why People Want Real Content

Let’s be honest: people aren’t as obsessed with memes and attention-grabbing reels as social media might make us think. Sure, those things are popular, but what many people are actually looking for is depth. They want something that leaves them feeling fulfilled, not just entertained for a few seconds. When everything is designed for a quick scroll, it can start to feel empty.

We have a choice here.

We can either keep adding to the noise
or create content that resonates on a deeper level.

The kind that leaves people thinking.
The kind that actually matters.
I think that’s a space worth stepping into.

3. Be You, Not a Brand

Do we need to chase a brand image. Or just be ourselves.

Being Mihai writing behind the Respira brand, I ask myself:
What’s my message? What matters to me?

I love to build places where everybody feels seen and heard, allowing people to discover themselves and the things they have in common, as I believe life is meant to be lived together.

When we create from a place of genuine interest, it naturally attracts people who feel the same way. It might not lead to instant fame, but it builds something solid — something real.

Instead of thinking about what will “perform” well, focus on what you care about.
The internet has enough clickbait.

People are looking for creators who don’t just follow trends, but who offer something real. If you’re being authentic, that will show.

4. It’s Not About Followers; It’s About Community

“Followers” isn’t the best word for what we’re trying to build. It’s really about community — a tribe of people who resonate with what we’re saying.

You don’t need a huge following to make an impact.
You need a core group that sees your vision and sticks around because it’s real.

Building that kind of community starts with being yourself and sharing what you believe in. As people find you, they’ll connect with you on a deeper level, knowing you’re not just chasing numbers. That connection is worth a lot more than a quick viral post.

5. Focus on Depth, Not Just Virality

The future of creative work?

I say it’s depth over popularity.

It’s about creating things that leave an impact. Maybe it’s a blog post, a long-form video, or even a meaningful conversation.

Whatever it is, allow people to see the real you.
This might not make you an overnight sensation, but it builds something that lasts.

So, here’s a challenge: let go of what you think will “work” and create what feels meaningful to you. In a sea of content designed to grab attention, our voices will stand out if we mean it too.

In Closing

The end of the personal brand as we know it isn’t a loss; it’s an opportunity. We get to show up as ourselves, create work that reflects who we are, and connect with people who feel the same. The internet still has room for realness, for depth, and for meaning — as long as we’re willing to add it.
